Route to Christmas: Day 13

Posted by Jan Kocbach, 13 Dec 2007@8:00

Todays leg is leg 11 in category H21E from the Latvian race “Kurzemes Pavasaris” in Garâ at April 7th 2007. Note that not all the best runners have drawn their route choice - route choices and times given here are relative to the ones who have drawn their route. Thank you to Martins Lismanis for the tip!

First take a look at the map without routes - and think about how you would attack this leg (if the image is too small, you may click on it to get it larger):

Then you can take a look at how the runners who have drawn their route choice solved this leg:

I must admit I would have gone around on the left…
But I’m not used to this kind of marshes around here.
I wonder if the difference between the two choices wouldn’t have been less if going from 11 to 10 ?

I run this leg, and run along the light blue route in the start and than along the blue route over the marsh - and lost quite a bit of time. I guess if running again, I would have ran along the blue in the start and the light blue in the end - there was quite some fighting over that marsh…

Has anybody considered running right on the road, the small path, over the fields and attack the control from the black road behind the control?

Tom Dane> I thought the same way as you did. The question is from where it’s best to attack controll from. Tricky route.
