Looks like Olav led this race from “gun to tape”. That is seriously impressive.

Jan, Great work,thanks. Olav did a great run, but still it is interesting to notice that it is far from perfect. He makes one significant control mistake, (16), at least two smaller ones (15,29) and one route-choice mistake (12). Total time lost 65-80 sec. Still, it is his better orienteering that mainly gives him the huge margin towards Merz and the others, regarding running speed he is “only” best from 30-65 min of the race.

Looks to me that it is possible to win this course with a tactic: “I will run the shortest plausible choice on all legs”.

On nearly all legs the best choice is the straightest of all the chosen alternatives. On the other ones the runners on the straight route doesn’t loose much.
(Of course, it isn’t that simple.)
