New day – new country: In today’s leg in Route to Christmas 2022 we travel to Austria for the second Austria cup of 2022 back in April. The chosen leg is a long leg which was the same for Men Elite and Women Elite. Thanks a lot to course setter Anja Arbter for the tip!
The race was organized in the Vienna area, and there was some snow on the ground. As far as I remember this part of Austria, the white forest should be fairly fast – typical continental terrain – and there are also quite a few paths to choose from. The leg is as usually first provided without routes – you may take a look at it and think about how you would attack this leg (if the image is too small, you may click on it to get it larger):

Clearly the fastest times have been run to the left, where it seems like you save some climb – the climb up to the control seems to take quite some time.
Here we have the women’s GPS were also the fastest runners took the left option.
