You can try to use web-translator from Russian to English. Of course, 50% will be wrong, but you might try to understand the essence of the text. And I could give you some comments on the pages that are interesting for you.

The book sounds very interesting - and so is it to hear more about the method. My Russian is unfortunately a lot poorer than your English (i.e., no knowledge at all), so I don't know how much use it will be to me - but I still send you my e-mail address. My impression is that there is a lot of interesting things in Russian orienteering which it is difficult to understand for non-Russians due to the language barrier - I would be very interested in learning more about it.

Not always, of course. But I used it for the prediction of winner's time at my courses in Portugal-2000, World Cup Final with a very good accuracy of the prediction (both long and short courses).
It was a very important moment at the short course (not sprint, but 25 min course as it was then). It was 5,7 km course, and the IOF adviser had doubts that this length would fit 25 min. I proved it by calculations. The result was 25 min and few seconds.

The details of the method are published in my book, but it is in Russian. The book (about 120 pages) is about training in orienteering. Unfortunately my English is not so good for translating it and publishing in English.

I did not find the complete Russian version in I-net, but I can send it to you as pdf-file if you give me your mail address.

Thanks a lot for a very interesting calculation, Alexander. Have you used these formulas extensively before? Do you usually have a good fit?
