Close to a few thousand(!) more Norwegian maps have been entered in the Norwegian map register during the last month or so, and are now also available through WoO Maps. Now there are nearly 4000 Norwegian maps registered – soon passing Czech Republic in terms of the number of registered orienteering maps. Another country coming up strongly is Israel thanks to great work by Dan Chissick – now featuring 27 maps, all including map samples. Belgium, USA, Canada, Japan, Ireland and France are among the other countries which have new maps registered since Christmas time – and still some maps a day are being entered to the map register.
Add many maps at once!
Bulk additions from clubs and countries are still very welcome. You can read about bulk addition of a large number of maps in this post from December, where an Excel file format was described. For bulk-additions, all you need is a list of maps with map name and owner name and more information if that is available. Positioning of the maps can be done afterwards in the WoO Maps interface – a job which you don’t have to do by yourself. A list of maps without position will be available, and people can place maps they know the position of. If your map list is not in the prescribed Excel format, but instead in form of a webpage or in some other format – contact me at jan@kocbach.net, and I am sure we can work out a good way to do it together.

- Browse the World of O Maps database in Google Earth. Fly to some place in Google Earth, and stop. After a few seconds, the 30 newest maps within your viewport are shown. This function is not yet optimized, and the server load is currently quite high – so please don’t use it too much in this phase.
- World of O Maps – Norwegian version. Gives you “red dots” a few more zoom levels for Norwegian maps – but shows only Norwegian maps.
