Todays leg in Route to Christmas is from a France. This time we have chosen leg number 11 in the A course from a French National event at May 3rd 2009. The terrain is very different from what we have seen the previous two days.

Then you can take a look at how the runners who have drawn their route choice solved this leg. Unfortunately the best runners in the competition did not draw their route in Routegadget for this competition – but the routes below still give some insight. Fabien Pasquasy was significantly faster than the routes drawn here – if you are reading this, you might add a comment about the leg below:)

The ‘Route to Christmas’ series at World of O was very popular the two last year – and I’ve therefore decided to continue the series this Christmas as well. If you have got any good legs in RouteGadget from 2009-competitions – or old forgotten ones which are still interesting – please email me the link at Jan@Kocbach.net, and I’ll include it in Route to Christmas if it looks good. Route to Christmas will not be interesting if YOU don’t contribute.
There will be no analysis about the best routechoice for each leg – you can provide that yourself in the comments or in the Webroute. Not all legs are taken for the interesting routechoice alternatives – some are also taken because the map is interesting – or because it is not straightforward to see what to do on a certain leg. Any comments are welcome – especially if you ran the event chosen for todays leg!
Note that there may be some errors in the Routegadget data (sometimes somebody draws a route for another runner just for fun). Please add a comment below if you spot en error.
This race was the Belgian WOC long distance selection race.
There’s one important detail missing in routegadget: you could drink some water on the paved road, just were the three western routes converge. This was what decided my route choice. Plus, I could already see control 16 by going west.

It is interesting to see that the refreshment control had influence on the route choice considerations for the second time in Route to Christmas this year (the same was the case on day 1). I wondered if this is planned to be part of the routechoice considerations from the route planners side, or just a side effect?
Normally I would want to have the refreshment control in a place where it does not influence so much I think.
In fact I didn’t saw the refreshment point when I was planning my leg but finally I used it. In fact I got injured in that race and was suffering a lot from my back (bad fall in early race) and therefore I was not reading my map carefully. Jeroen put my route over there so nothing more to say about this.
