Jukola: Another one for Kalevan Rasti

With Thierry Gueorgiou for Kalevan Rasti starting the last leg around 2 minutes ahead of Daniel Hubmann for Kristiansand OK, it looked like we could have a very interesting last leg with a fight between two of the best orienteers of the last 10 years. However both Gueorgiou and Hubmann ran good and stable races – and thegap wavered around 2 minutes from start to end.

In the end Gueorgiou ran Kalevan Rasti in to victory  2:30 ahead of Kristiansand OK.

– Jukola is the nicest relay you can win as a team. If you have just one relay to win in your life it will be Jukola – that is why it is so important for us, Gueorgiou said after his race.

Recovered after 10Mila

Kristiansand’s anchor Daniel Hubmann was happy with the 2nd place as the team recovered after a disastrous 10Mila relay.

– We are happy with second place. Kalevan Rasti is a very good team, and they had close to perfect races, Hubmann said right after his finish.

Hiidenkiertäjät with Valentin Novikov on the last leg finished 3rd – and Halden – the big favourite along with Kalevan Rasti and Kristiansand – finished “only” in 4th without Olav Lundanes in the team. Probably the most happy men after the finish was Tyrving in 5th with a new club record.
