Graeme Ackland in the WOC 2024 course setting team has made a detailed analysis of the WOC Sprint Relay 2024, published here at WorldofO.com. – It was a very exciting race with lots of small errors and changes of lead, Ackland comments.
The race analysis goes through the race and discusses the decisions points – this is well worth a read to understand how the relay was decided. Thanks a lot to Ackland for allowing WorldofO.com to publish the analysis.
The analysis starts as follows:
After a trivial first control the first challenge was to get out of the carpark. The fastest route is through the gap where the line is cut. Nailing this, a small group of Germany, Belgium and Estonia took an early lead, with a chasing pack of Ireland, Bulgaria, Turkey Japan and Brazil running alongside Sweden and Norway
