POM Day 2: Maps and Results

POM Day 2

Lucas Basset (France) and Catherine Taylor (Great Britain) took the victories in the middle distance race  at the second day of Porgual O-Meeting 2015.

Monday’s third day of Portugal O Meeting is the main event of Portugal O Meeting – a long distance World Ranking Event. Expect all runners to give a maximum Monday – giving a more real picture about the standing between the World Elite.

Basset with strong finish

France’s Basset had an excellent finish of his race, taking the win 16 seconds ahead of Valentin Novikov (Russia) with Baptiste Rollier (Switzerland) in third. Martin Hubmann (Switzerland) and Aaro Asikainen (Finland) were in the lead in the early parts of the race, but lost too much time towards the end. Edgars Bertuks also showed some of his old class for a while, but did not manage to finish in style all the way to the finish. Saturday’s winner Gustav Bergman did not start on Sunday’s middle distance – becoming ill with fever.

Taylor in her own class

In the women’s class Catherine Taylor had a great race – winning 11 of the 21 legs in today’s middle distance course – simply having a different speed than the others. Closest in this middle distance race was Saila Kinni (Finland) with Kamilla Olaussen (Norway) in third.
