Emil Svensk and Tove Alexandersson won the Swedish Championships Sprint on Tuesday. Alexandersson had one of those “impossible days” where she is unbeatable – winning with 1:39.
In the men’s class the fight for victory was a lot closer. With many orienteers with top international sprint results behind them on the start line, Emil Svensk beat all the Swedish WOC team plus the Finnish sprint World Champion from 2013, Mårten Boström. Boström finished second and Gustav Bergman finished third.
Emil Svensk was in the lead all the way from the first control to the end of the race. Gustav Bergman (lost 10 seconds at leg 3, finished 10 seconds behind in 3rd) and Jonas Leandersson (lost 14 seconds at leg 6, finished 14 seconds behind in 4th) were only one control away from beating Emil Svensk, though.
Svensk is Junior World Champion over the middle distance from 2013 and finished 3rd in a Sprint race in the Swedish League in May. Svensk is also reserve for Sweden for World Championships Sprint.
Jerker Lysell finished 5th in his comeback – and showed that he nearly has the speed he needs for the World Championships in Scotland. One more month – and he could very well be where he needs to be.
