[Sprint Relay from Friday 15:00 CET / Middle Saturday 12:00 CET / Sprint Sunday 13:20 CET] In the World Cup final this weekend there will be a fight for the overall World Cup victory – but just as important is the good bye to three big Swiss stars: Simone Niggli, Matthias Merz and Matthias Leonhardt (formerly Müller) will end their international elite career this weekend- together they have taken an impressive 43 World Championships medals – and been a very big part of the Swiss success story of the last 10 years.

The World Cup final consists of a middle distance race on Saturday and a sprint race on Sunday. Sunday’s sprint race is restricted for the best 40 placed runners in the overall World Cup. In addition there is a sprint relay Friday – set up as a test for the mixed sprint relay WOC next year – testing touchfree punching with SportIdent Air+. Old maps of the area are available here – above the most interesting part of the old maps of the area is shown (but the courses might very well not get into this area – we will know for sure on Saturday).

Overall World Cup: Thriller finish between Niggli and Alexandersson

The fight for the overall World Cup will be a thriller between Tove Alexandersson (Sweden) and Simone Niggli in the women’s class. Alexandersson has a big advantage with her 736 points and 51 point lead – Niggli will need some help to take the overall World Cup. Still it will be a very interesting fight.. In third is Annika Billstam with 491 points – too far behind to fight for the overall victory.

Update: The following rules are important for the overall calculations:

  • In the competition 13 (World Cup Final) the runners finishing the race get double points. The winner gets 200 points down to 2 points for the 40th place.
  • Total is calculated as the sum of all scores from competitions 1 to 8 plus the best 2 scores from competitions 9 to 12 and the score from competition 13 (last race)
