WC Final Middle: Maps and Results

part2mk
Nice forest &crazy rocks! Simone Niggli and Daniel Hubmann finished on top – in the men’s class Hubmann was joined by four other Swiss runners on top of the results list. The Swiss runners offered just what the spectators came for, while the Swiss organizers offered an interesting race, some technical orienteering, and very nice live services.

The big surprise in the women’s race was Nadia Volynska

The big surprise in the women’s race was Nadia Volynska who run very well from an early start number – leading the race at the first TV control when all runners had passed. Niggli was however more stable in the end of the race, and in the end won a clear victory ahead of Annika Billstam and Nadia Volynska.

Swedes tried but failed

In the men’s race, the fight was between the Swiss and Swedish runners from the start. The Swedes Öberg and Bergman did not manage to keep high speed and stable orienteering all the way until the end, though, and thus it 5 Swiss runners who fought for victory. The race of Andreas Kyburz looked very strong, and Daniel Hubmann and Matthias Kyburz had to fight very hard to keep the less known brother of Matthias Kyburz behind. In the end Hubmann was strongest – however – and Matthias Kyburz managed to beat his brother with some small seconds after an exceptional finish.
