Les Alpettes, Switzerland, 1981. The classic WOC race in 1981 was one of those classic long distance races. Varied terrain and course – from the long legs in the steep hills in the start of the course to the shorter legs in the flat parts towards the end.

Again I did not find a map without routes – so no Webroute. But based on (the few) responses I have got to “January Classics”, people rather want “real classics” than a Webroute. So be it:)

A spectator’s view

When searching for information from WOC 1981, I found a long report in the OrienteeringCanada Newsletter from the autumn 1981 – “A Spectator’s View of the 1981 WOC”.  I included the first page as a screenshot below as a “teaser” – you find the full PDF here (from page 10).
