[Updated with high quality maps and split time analysis] Swiss success at the World Cup Sprint in Poland today: Judith Wyder and Matthias Kyburz took the victories in a technical city sprint in Wroclaw.
Reigning World Champion Jonas Leandersson (Sweden) had the fastest start of the race, and had a 10 second lead to Matthias Kyburz after 6 minutes racing with Daniel Hubmann (Switzerland) another second behind. As always the two Swiss runners had very strong finishes, and Kyburz finally took the victory one second ahead of Hubmann with Leandersson in third 5 seconds behind after Leandersson lost 9 seconds to the 23rd control.
In the women’s class the fight for victory was between the two qualification heat winners Maja Alm (Denmark, reigning World Champion) and Judith Wyder (Switzerland). Alm did some mistakes in the start and lost 12 seconds to Wyder the first 4 minutes of running on the routechoice leg to the 4th control and another 6 seconds to control number 5. Although Alm finished faster than Wyder, the Danish woman never managed to catch up and finished 8 seconds behind. Tove Alexandersson, Marika Teini and Nadiya Volynska shared the 3rd place.

Since recently there have been a lot of comments about not good sprint courses or other issues happening in official IOF sprint orienteering: As it looks now the sprint final (unfortunatly only the final) seems like a very good course and organisation. Hope the athlets will tell the same later. Thumbs up!
I agree, looks like nice courses with many interesting routechoice challenges. We’ll see what the runners say later.
