Simone Niggli and Matthias Kyburz win Swiss WCup test race

Simone Niggli and Matthias Kyburz won the second Swiss test race for the World Cup round in Norway/Sweden on Saturday – a middle distance race organized in Austria. This was the second of three test races – the long distance test race was organized on Thursday with Daniel Hubmann and Judith Wyder on top.

The Swiss team for the World Championships in Scotland will be decided after the World Cup round in Norway/Sweden, and therefore the World Cup test races are very important for the Swiss team in the World Champs. Daniel Hubmann, Fabian Hertner, Baptiste Rollier and Matthias Kyburz have been in the top 3 in at least one of the test races – with Hubmann showing the most constant racing. In the women’s class Judith Wyder, Sabine Hauswirth, Sara Lüscher, Rahel Friedrich and Simone Niggli have been in the top 3.

Although Niggli won the selection race on Saturday, there are no indications that Niggli will do a comeback on the international level. Niggli did also not participate in the long distance race on Thursday.
