WC: Frightened runners in the forest

[Updated 15:20] The middle final has been cancelled due to a severe storm, and several runners got scared by the wind in the forest due to bushes being blown down. Norwegian Audun Weltzien got a treetop blown down on him, and understood that the situation was serious (source: Press Release from the Norwegian Orienteering Federation).

Update: According to orientering.se, there will be a replacement middle distance at friday, which then will be the World Cup Final. See other news items.
This might be a blow for Thierry Gueorgious chances of winning the overall World Cup if no replacement competition is set up on friday – as he needs very good results in the World Cup final to be able to stand at the top of the podium in this years World Cup. It is unclear if the race may be held at all, considering that some runners were already in the forest at the time of the cancellation.

Overall WC ranking – mens class before final
As you see from the overall ranking and the scoring system below in the mens class, even if a cancellation of todays race should lead to the number of counting races in the overall WC being cut down from 7 to 6 (which I cannot see is possible based on the rules?), Thierry’s chances for an overall WC victory are a lot smaller without this middle distance.
