The terrain – and how to master it!
Middle Distance- Take a look at this 400 meter long leg. (Control 14 to 15) The map is full of details – very technical -there is so much information that you really have to be careful with the reading. Everything looks the same and it is easy to lose control of all the elements. Compass bearing and control of distance is the best alternative to attack the control.
Typical routechoice challenges
Long Distance – (Control 14 to 15) – Very detailed terrain full of rocks and stones, with trenches from the First World War, Silver fir, Norway spruce, beech trees, good visibility and slow runability due to the stony ground.
- North Route – Fast running on tracks and safe control attack, but long!
- South Route- Contour-reading and very detailed elements.Probably more time.
- Direct route – The shortest route, but you have to read the map carefully.
