Thierry Gueorgiou took also the victory in Men Superelite at the second day of Portugal O-Meeting 2016 – while Annika Billstam took the victory in the women’s class.

But Day 1 and 2 are only warm-up for the long distance WRE race on day 3. Gueorgiou and Billstam are among the favourites also there. Follow the race live at the POM 2016 live page.

Men: Gueorgiou with big margin

Interestingly, both Thierry Gueorgiou and Lucas Basset lost 18 seconds or less to the leg winner on all legs – least of all runners in this race.

Thierry Gueorgiou won with a big margin of 2:19 ahead of Hannu Airila with Lucas Basset in 3rd at 2:24. Thierry Gueorgiou won 16 of 31 legs and did nearly no mistakes. Thus Basset was also stable – but not with the top speed of Gueorgiou. Maybe Basset saves the little extra for the WRE long distance on Monday?

– Enjoyed this one much more than yesterday, with the very first part of the course as the highlight (Gueorgiou)

– Enjoyed this one much more than yesterday, with the very first part of the course as the highlight. Thereafter, there were couple of legs where there was not much to do except sticking to the red line and pushing hard, Gueorgiou wrote about his second win in POM 2016. – Pleased with my performance. The only place I was losing significant time (+0.18) was to the 8th where I decided to avoid most of the stony slope by going down after the 7th, but the vegetation was not too friendly there.
