An early preview-version of the new Omaps.WorldofO.com-service is now available for everybody to test-drive. Note that this is an early preview version of Omaps.WorldofO.com, and the site may be unstable and be taken down without notice at any time.
About Omaps.WorldofO.com
Omaps.WorldofO.com collects (large) thumbnails of recent orienteering maps from competitions/trainings from a number of sources – including websites in WorldofO.com, many Routegadget sites and Doma map archive sites. For each map, as much information as possible is retrieved, and shown alongside the map. The full-sized map is not hosted at WorldofO, instead a link is given to the original location of the map / article telling about the map.
The test-version of Omaps.WorldofO.com you see online now is just a limited version with a basic number of features – and some errors as well. In a future version of Omaps.WorldofO.com, users may be able to add maps to existing map collections, make their own map collections, add maps, get a list of all maps they like, and so on.
No replacement for maps.WorldofO.com
Note that this is not a replacement for maps.worldofo.com – a complete map archive based on national map archives. Omaps.WorldofO.com is focused on maps from competitions and trainings, whereas maps.worldofo.com is focused on orienteering map availability in general. Hopefully it will be possible to get a direct link between these two sites in the future.
