EOC Sprint: Jansson and the Swiss!

Update: Now with map! Fabian Hertner and the other Swiss were fantastic in todays EOC Sprint – taking 6 out of the 8 first spots in the mens class and 3 of the top 10 spots among the women. Gold in the EOC sprint went to Helena Jansson among the women and Fabian Hertner among the men – the gold and silver medalists in last years WOC sprint.

The orienteering was tricky – many of the runners having problems. The two top women finnishers – Helena Jansson and Simone Niggli both did mistakes today, whereas Fabian Hertnes seemed to have an excellent race.

Hertner to the speaker after the race: – I did no mistakes. I did a very good race. There were some route choice were I took my time for the right decision in the start. Then at the spectator control I heard that I had a big lead. I took it quite secure in the end, but pushing very hard of course.

The course gave tricky orienteering – some of it on the beach, some of it in a bungalow area, and some of it in the forest.
