If Australia wants a WOC outside of Europe, they could have organised one in 2019, as I understand. They appear to have both cities and forests.
If Hong Kong wants to run fast in the cities, they had ample chance to do so this year, last year, etc.
Overall, this is a ridiculous decision – we will split the WOC but we do not yet know how. Will all the countries with forests and without cities now rush to apply to organise WOC2019? Which exactly are those countries?
I wonder why is there no information which countries voted in favor of the split champs? That decision is so far detached from what the “real” orienteering is about. Time to create IFOF (International Forest Orienteering Federation).
